The Eisenhower Matrix
The matrix is named after Dwight Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States. He was also a prominent general during World War II. He formulated the idea of distinguishing between what is important and what is urgent. The matrix is intended to help you make decisions between tasks that are:
– Important
– Not important
– Urgent
– No hurry

The prioritization matrix consists of 4 boxes.
Prioritize and implement: These are tasks that are both important and urgent. They have immediate consequences if they are not handled soon. For example, this could be a project submission or an urgent client request.
Planned: These are tasks that are important to achieving your long-term goals but don't have an urgent deadline. For example, building a network to expand your customer base.
Delegated: These are tasks that are urgent but not necessarily important for you to complete personally. These can be given to others on your team who can do the tasks just as well.
Cut: These are tasks that are neither important nor urgent. They are mostly distractions that don't get you any closer to your goals. They can be removed.
How to use in practice
For example, you can color code the tasks based on which box they belong to.
It is important to limit the number of tasks.
It can be tempting to cram as many tasks as possible into the boxes, but it's more effective to focus on the most important ones.
Remember that it may be a good idea to separate personal and professional tasks. You can then create different matrices for these.
